Lessons

De Klarinetschool Arnhem is the private teaching practice of Tui Clark.

Tui teaches the clarinet from her home in the Burgermeesterswijk to adults and children from age 6 years. She has a special small clarinet for young children. Tui can also teach saxophone, recorder, and piano up to intermediate level. She teaches in English and in Dutch.

She has over 20 years experience teaching clarinet, saxophone, piano and chamber music. She has taught privately, at many schools in New Zealand and the UK. She is now based in Arnhem, Netherlands, where she runs a small private studio and has taught at the Rivers International School. She completed a Masters of Music Education at the Royal Conservatoire in Den Haag, where she researched new methods of teaching expressive phrasing using free improvisation and movement. She also underwent Dalcroze Eurythmics and Kodaly training as part of the course.

She adapts her teaching style to suit the needs and tastes of each student, while ensuring that good technique and musicianship are established. Some students prefer a structured, linear approach, and others flourish with freedom and exploration. Tui regularly accompanies her students from the piano in the lessons and concerts. Some pupils choose to work towards internationally recognized ABRSM exams, which are now available in Arnhem.

Tui organizes 2 casual studio concerts per year at which her pupils can perform. The klarinetschool cooperates within the Nieuwe Arnhemse Muziekschool, which enables students to participate in all kinds of chamber music and provides extra performance opportunities.
